The Russian border-guards who protect the Tajik-Afghan border confiscated more than 342 kg of narcotics in November 2003. This is 1.8 times more compared to the same period of 2002.
This was disclosed to RIA Novosti on Thursday in the press service of the Russian frontier group of the Federal Frontier Service of the Russian Federation.
In November 2003, 271 kg of heroin was confiscated (as against 154 kg over the same period of last year). More than 66 per cent of narcotics was seized at the border section of the Moskovsky frontier detachment.
Eleven trespassers, which is several times more than in November 2002, were detained at the border, two attempts to break through the state border from Afghanistan were thwarted, and two caches with 140 projectiles discovered.
