Some heads of the Russian car giant AvtoVAZ will be charged with major theft of spare parts from the company, Russian Deputy Prosecutor General Vladimir Kolesnikov announced at a press conference in Moscow today. These charges are expected to be brought at the end of November or the beginning of December. According to the official, an inspection conducted by the prosecutor's office at the plant revealed a 1bn-ruble (about $33m) theft of spare parts, embezzlement and fraud by heads of the company.
The Deputy Prosecutor General noted that a decision about filing the related criminal case had been cancelled by a court, however, an investigation was resumed later. Kolesnikov also reported they continued investigating into a criminal case against some heads of the Samara region. "We will have another three to four years of tough work in this respect," he said.
