The operation to raise the Kursk nuclear submarine starts in a few hours, told RIA Novosti Lars Walder, the official spokesman for the Smit International company. Several hours left before the beginning of the operation will be spent on lifting the cables used while attaching the lifting devices to the submarine's hull, said Walder, adding that the problem with the 25th anchor, which at one point "was warped inside the fairlead," had been successfully solved. The weather in the area is favourable, with the sea almost smooth and the wind force reaching just 5-6 metres per second. According to Walder, this weather is expected to last until October 9 and help accomplish the raising operation in due time.
