On Sunday three activists of a bandit formation were arrested by the police running an operation to render harmless numerous bandit groups. The police press centre in Khankala reported that the three arrestees had signs on their bodies which testified to their using arms. Now the detainees are undergoing medical checks and are being identified. Armed clashes started in Khankala on December 11 when Russian Interior Ministry units were running operations in search of mini oil refineries there. Many bandit groups who guarded the mini refineries offered rebuff to the police. The operation to destroy the bandit formations in and outside Argun lasted nearly 5 days.
