Hundred-year-old woman from Donetsk loses her leg after shelling

A female resident of Donetsk, who celebrated her 100th birthday in July, suffered serious injuries when security forces and the National Guard of Ukraine shelled the city.

Because of the injury, the woman had to have her leg amputated.

According to the regional hospital, the woman's 71-year-old daughter suffered a broken hip as a result of the shelling.

"The women were sitting on the veranda of their house. They wanted to go inside, when a shell exploded near the house," medics said, RIA Novosti reports.
