Jellyfish-lamb sold in France

A genetically-modified lamb was sold to a private individual in France.

The lamb with jellyfish genes was meant to advanced medical research.

Investigation is being currently conducted to trace modified meat.

The lamb was born to a genetically-modified mother under the "Green Mutton" program started by the INRA scientific research group in 2009. Fluorescent cells should have been helpful to evaluate grafts restores after heart attack.

The fact of selling the lamb to a private slaughterhouse had been concealed by an INRA employee.

Selling any genetically-modified food in France is against the law.
