The second largest American style beermaker, Miller Brewing Company, will act as an exclusive importer of the Grolsch beer brands.
Such an agreement was achieved by Miller's parent company SABMiller plc, that will soon acquire the U.S. importation rights to the Grolsch brand from Anheuser-Busch Cos. Inc.
The deal can actually be traced back to November 2007, when the board of Royal Grolsch NV accepted a 816million EUR offer for the company by SABMiller. The takeover was completed with the delisting of Grolsch's shares on 20 March 2008.
The agreement allows Miller to import the entire Grolsch brand, including the beers featured in the United States market: Grolsch Lager, Grolsch Amber, Grolsch Blonde and Grolsch Light.
The transfer of the rights now depends on negotiation of definitive legal agreements that are expected to be finalized in the next few weeks.
