A drug addict from the city of Krasnoyarsk, Russia’s Siberia, brutally murdered a young disabled woman after he had asked her out for a date.
The man, named as Sergey Ananyev, may face a prison term from 8 to 20 years. A lifetime sentence is also possible, RIA Novosti reports.
The man decided to rob and kill a 22-year-old deaf and mute woman in the beginning of January of 2009. The man got acquainted with the woman though an SMS dating service six months before the crime. He pretended that he was in love with her and later asked the woman to give him some money. The woman took 3,000 rubles from her bank account (about $100) and arrived in Krasnoyarsk to meet the man on January 18.
Ananyev killed the woman near an apartment building: he hit her on the head several times with a hammer. The man stole the woman’s two cell phones, a digital camera, golden jewelry and 2,730 rubles. He covered the body with snow and left.
The murderer returned to the crime scene several days later, uncovered the corpse and removed golden earrings from the body. To take one of the earrings from the frozen body, the criminal had to chop the woman’s head off. He also cut off the earlap to take the earring home.
The man took the jewelry to the pawn shop and spent the money on drugs.
