The ship is registered in Saint Kitts and Nevis and is currently located near the coast of Norway awaiting favorable navigation conditions to travel further in the Arctic Ocean.

Earlier, the ship failed to receive permission to travel through the Suez and Panama canals.

The common fin whale is a close "relative" of the blue whale. The mammal had been almost completely exterminated in the middle of the last century. Fin whale hunting has been prohibited since 1982. In 2006, Iceland unilaterally resumed the commercial hunting of these animals, despite the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora.
