The top ten of world's most obese nations looks as follows: the USA, China, India, Russia, Brazil, Mexico, Egypt, Germany, Pakistan and Indonesia. As for Russia, the study said that as many as 15 percent of Russian men and 28.5 percent of women aged 20 years and older suffer from obesity.

The number of obese people in the world has been growing steadily, the study said. Thirty-three years ago, there were approximately 857 million obese people. Today, obesity is a disease that affects already 2.1 billion people.

The number of those suffering from excessive weight increases due to the consumption of protein-rich and fatty foods, as well as due to sedentary lifestyle. According to researchers, neglecting one's own weight is life-threatening as obesity killed more four million people in 2010.
