According to Russian media reports, there are problems in the work of the national space defense industry. Reportedly, it goes about failures in the system of launches of ballistic missiles after two satellites of "Oko-1" system finished working last month.
The launch of the first satellite of the United Space System of the Russian Federation, which will replace the "Oko" system, is slated for June of this year, The Kommersant newspaper said.
Sources at the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation said that the elimination of the previous space warning system was not dangerous for the country.
"Space defense layers allow to detect launches of enemy missiles about a minute before radar stations do it, the prime layer of the early warning system," spokespeople for the department said.
Late last month, Russian aerospace defense troops conducted exercises to test their combat readiness. The troops successfully repelled a missile and air strike on Moscow.
