Russian tennis player Yevgeny Kafelnikov who is successfully competing in the Masters Cup world championship in Sydney, Australia, with prize money of 3.7 million US dollars defeated on November 16 the world's No. 1 Gustavo Kuerten from Brazil 6-2, 4-6, 6-3. This match began unsuccessfully for Yevgeny who holds fourth place in the rating list of the Association of Professional Tennis (ATP). He lost his serve in the very first game, but it proved to be only an annoying episode. Further on, the Russian brilliantly won four games in succession, taking two Kuerten's serves. He finished the set at a high note, making a break anew. The players, as it were, changed roles in the second set. Kuerten took two games on Kafelnikov's serve, losing only one on his own. The competitors were at first a match to each other in the third set but Kafelnikov made a break in the fourth game and took the lead 3-1. After that he had only to retain the lead, and did not lose his chance.
