Sukhoi 35 jet crashes into wooded area outside Zhukovsky

Sukhoi 35 multipurpose fighter jet is tentatively estimated to have crashed 80 kilometers away from the city of Zhukovsky outside Moscow, said Yevgeny Kii, Zhukovsky deputy city chief for civil emergencies.

A team of aviation experts and rescue workers are operating at the crash scene.

The Defense Ministry's press office said in a statement the Sukhoi plane destroyed did not belong to the Russian Air Force. Tentative reports indicate it might have been the property of one of aviation enterprises based in or around Moscow.

The military establishment spokesman confirmed the pilot had bailed out and was alive.
