NATO violates G8 agreements, Russia's Lavrov says

The threats that come from the West about striking a military blow on Syria come contrary to the agreements that were reached at the G-8 summit in Lough Erne, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

Lavrov reminded that the declaration of the G8 summit in Lough Erne signed in June of this year, indicated that any message about the use of chemical weapons in Syria must first be carefully investigated by international experts.

The Russian foreign minister also said that Russia did not intend to enter into an open armed conflict in the event the West launched a military operation against Syria.
