Moscow's Fine Art gallery, with support from the Swedish embassy, is celebrating the 70th birthday of poet Tomas Transtroemer, who is regarded as one of the greatest poets of our times. An exhibition, Streaks of Fire, shows paintings, inspired by Transtroemer's work, by famous Russian artist Igor Vulokh. The poet's works have been translated into 43 languages, while he has won the C.M. Bellman (Sweden) and the Francesco Petrarca (Italy) Prizes, as well as awards from the North Council and the Swedish Academy. Vulokh's work can be found at Russia's most important museums, including the Tretyakov Gallery and the Russian Museum, as well as the Silkeborg Fine Arts Museum in Denmark and other foreign collections. Vulokh created his series of works based on Transtroemer's poetry in 1994.
