Over 400 houses have been destroyed and 4 people died in the worst fire storm to reach Canberra in living memory. Bush fires, usually limited to remote country areas, appeared suddenly in densely populated residential suburb of Canberra this weekend. Western suburb of Duffy has been practically destroyed by the flames and the fire damaged a number of houses in the upmarket area of Belconnen.
