The actual spending might hit even higher stakes
The coming election of the US president and the elections to the US Congress are to become the most expensive elections in the American history. The elections will reportedly cost $4 billion.
Computer models based on the information about various financial sources of the US November elections – from budget allocations to donations from voters and political parties – showed that they will overcome the sum of $3.9 billion. The Washington-based non-governmental Center for Responsive Politics told RIA Novosti that the election of the US president would set the absolute record too. The center, which runs the statistics of spending on US elections, said that the race between George W. Bush and John Kerry for the right to take the office of the American president would cost more than 1.2 billion.
A spokesperson for the Center for Responsive Politics stressed out that it was a “conservative” evaluation. It was also said that the actual spending on the presidential and congressional elections on November 2 might hit even higher stakes.
