12, 21, 24. Gold, Silver and Bronze. Russia's tally is amazing, evoking memories of Soviet times when the USSR led the medals table, which would be the case this time around if all 15 Republics were counted. So, little has changed except the times and records which register new highs daily.
Russia's fresh tally of gold, silver and bronze-ware involves women's wrestling (Natalia Vorobieva won the 72 Kg. Freestyle), Boxing (Sofya Ochigava won the Silver in the Women's 60 Kg. and Nadezda Torlopova got the Silver in the 75 Kg. category); David Ayrapetyan won the Bronze in the Men's Light Flyweight 49 Kg.; and another Bronze came in the Men's Double Canoe Sprint, 1000 metres - Aleksei Korovashkov and Ilya Pervukhin.
