Tottenham's Russian striker Roman Pavlyuchenko could be set to move north, to Sunderland after the transfer of Darren Bent, Sunderland's leading scorer last year, from the northern club to midlands team Aston Villa. Villa's John Carew could move southwards to West Ham United if the Bent deal is signed for the expected 18 million GBP. Chelsea FC is also on the trail to sign Darren Bent.
Liverpool FC, motivated with an improved bootroom atmosphere after the arrival of former idol Kenny Dalglish, look set to land Uruguay striker Luis Suarez. Outwards seems to be winger Ryan Babel, whose destination could be either Ajax or Hoffenheim (Germany). Liverpool FC also want Aston Villa players Ashley Young and Stewart Downing.
One of the most surprising deals in the January transfer window may be the return of French striker Thierry Henry, 33, to English football, from American Major League team New York Red Bulls to Sven-Goran Eriksson's Championship (Second Division) team Leicester City.
Chelsea FC are also tracking Benfica's defender David Luiz and have made a 22 million GBP offer. Moving to the Iberian Peninsula could be Carlos Tevez, from Manchester City to Real Madrid, frustrated after Hamburg blocked a deal with Ruud van Nistelroy. Real is desperate to sign an experienced striker. Both Real Madrid and Manchester United are said to be aiming for the 17-year-old Argentine striker Juan Manuel Iturbe, currently playing for Quilmes.
Manchester United also want to sign Barcelona's midfield player Sergio Busquets, while Guardiola wants Manchester United right-back Rafael.
Tottenham meanwhile, desperate for a Champions League place, is looking at Mark van Bommel, Captain of Bayern Munich. AC Milan and Manchester City are also interested in the Dutch player. Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp is also said to be close to offering Sevilla 30 million Euros for the Brazilian striker Luis Fabiano.
