Ghana: Wonderful Surprise

Ghana, 32 in the FIFA ranking, goes through to the next round with Germany, leap-frogging over Serbia (15) and Australia (20) to play the USA and England, respectively. Drama in Group C, where the USA’s last-minute goal against Algeria sent Slovenia crashing out.

In Group C, the USA and England make it to the last 16 at the expense of Algeria and Slovenia; Ghana and Germany go through, Australia and Serbia drop out of Group D.

As for tomorrow’s games, in Group E Cameroon is already eliminated, whatever the result against Holland, a team which has already qualified, whatever the result between Japan and Denmark, both on 3 points, Japan with a goal difference of zero (1-1) and Denmark with minus one (2-3). Anything less than a win for Denmark, is not enough.

In Group F, Paraguay plays New Zealand and Italy meets Slovakia. A draw is enough for Paraguay, while in the other match, both teams need to win to be sure of passing to the last 16.
