Russia has businessmen who like supporting cultural sphere, said director of State Hermitage Museum Mikhail Piotrovsky at “Coffee Club” meeting devoted to the relations between culture and business, on February 2.
According to Piotrovsky, Hermitage employees composed “a list of so-called Russian oligarchs, and discovered that the nine out of the ten people on the list regularly support cultural sphere”.
”After Head of Financial and Industrial Group “Interros” Vladimir Potanin presented the Hermitage Museum “Black Square” painting by Malevich, some businessmen followed his example and started donating to cultural sphere”, said Piotrovsky. “Oil tycoon Roman Abramovich is the only person on the list not being enthusiastic about sponsoring culture”.
