There are 36 billionaires on the list of the wealthiest Russians, the other 64 tycoons have assets of hundreds of million dollars.
Prisoner, former Head of YUKOS company Mikhail Khodorkovsky is on the top of the list. Then goes oil tycoon Roman Abramovich ($12.5 billion), owner of a number of steel plants Victor Vekselberg ($5.9) – the only man who is not married among the top 10 rich. Then follows President of Norilsknickel company Mikhail Prokhorov and Head of Interros investment company Vladimir Potanin (each of them has $5.4 billion). Chairman of the Board of Alpha-Group consortium (involved in banking, oil industry and technologies) Mikhail Fridman ($5.2 billion), Chairman of the Board of Novolipetsky Steel Plant Vladimir Lisin ($4.8 billion), owner of “Russian Aluminum” corporation Oleg Deripaska and Director of Severstal steel company Alexei Mordashev. President of LUKOIL Vagit Alekperov is the last on the list of the ten richest Russians ($3.9 billion).
Interestingly, when Forbes published the list of the richest people worldwide, there were only 25 Russians on it. According to Forbes, the number of billionaires in Russia grew by 40 percent for the last 2.5 month, and their common capital was increased from $79.4 billion to $110 billion. Some of the “freshmen” billionaires: President of Alpha-Bank Petr Aven, Head of Millhouse David Davidovich, CEO of Sibneft oil company Andrei Gorodilov and senator Valery Oif who also gained his wealth in Sibneft, wife of Moscw mayor Elena Baturina - owner of Inteko company working in construction and many other spheres all over Russia.
According to Forbes experts, the assets of the “newcomers” surpassed the figure of $1 billion only by mid-April due to the booming of Russian stock exchange market.
