Russian law enforcement continues searching for the missing candidate for presidency Ivan Ribkin, reported official representative of the Government's Department of Internal Affairs lieutenant colonel Evgeny Gildeev in his interview to RIA “Novosti”.
“Currently, we do not possess any information regarding Ivan Ribkin's whereabouts. Police continues to look for him,” stated Gildeev. Delegate of the State Duma, lieutenant colonel of the FSB Gennady Gudkov (“Unified Russia”) declared that according to his sources, Ribkin is presumably at the suburban ranch “Lesnie Dali.” However, recent inspection did not prove such information.
Ivan Ribkin disappeared in the evening of February 5th. On Sunday, February 8th, his wife reported the case to the local police. Currently, Criminal Investigation Department of Moscow along with the Office of Public Prosecutor and the Department of Federal Security Services is looking for the candidate for presidency.
Candidate Ivan Ribkin has been officially registered by the Central Elections Committee on Saturday. He is eligible to participate in the presidential elections scheduled for March.
Inter-district Investigation Department of Presnensky region filed a criminal case in accordance with Ribkin’s disappearance. The case is based on the clause 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder). Afterwards, the case has been referred to the Investigation Department of the central administration district of Moscow.
Later however, Office of Public Prosecutor revoked the “murder” case. Now the candidate is simply considered missing. “There are not enough evidences to point out to manslaughter,” remarked dead of the Office of Public Prosecutor. Investigators do not have any doubts that the candidate is alive and well.
Central Elections Committee stated that Ivan Ribkin will be included in the bulletin despite the incident. Head of the Committee Alexander Veshnyakov said that people will be able to vote for their candidate on March 14th. According to him, the Committee does not have any reasons not to include Ribkin's name in the bulletin. Ivan Ribkin is a citizen of the Russian Federation and has his rights.
