Will Commanders Advise Governors?

Army problems are in focus
Organizations of different kinds can be created in the country now. The other day, a council of military units' commanders was created in the Arkhangelsk region of Russia. The decision was reached at a meeting of Arkhangelsk governor Anatoly Yefremov with commanders of military units stationed in the region. The new council will cooperate with the governor. Activity of the new board will be carried out in accordance with the decree "On concept of the Russian Federation's national security" issued by President Vladimir Putin.

As the press-service of the Arkhangelsk regional administration informs, the council of commanders will consist of the governor, commander of the Belomorye naval base Oleg Tregubov, commander of the Plesetsk space center Anatoly Bashlakov, military commissar of the Arkhangelsk region Valery Petruk and other commanders of military units stationed in the region. The council is meant to develop suggestions on security strengthening in legal, material and resource maintenance of military units; it will also deal with social problems of families of the military. The new board is given the authority to listen to reports of functionaries and leaders of public organizations on all subjects under the council's jurisdiction. In addition, Arkhangelsk governor Anatoly Yefremov suggested that the council should also deal with the following problems: analysis of the situation in military units, solution of everyday problems in local and regional administrative boards, social and legal protection of the military and their families, patriotic upbringing of a young generation. Participants of the meeting with the Arkhangelsk governor agreed that creation of the new council was well-grounded and well-timed.
