Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent a letter of congratulation to his Belarussian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko on the Day of Unity of Peoples of Russia and Belarus.
Russia and Belarus "are confidently moving along the road towards mutually advantageous integration and development of political, economic and cultural ties based on historical commonness, friendship and spiritual kinship of two brotherly nations," the Russian president's press service cited Putin as saying in his message.
"Construction of the Union State is becoming distinctly outlines and begins yielding concrete results," the Russian president wrote.
He also said he was convinced that Russian-Belarussian interaction would go on developing in the interests of people of Russia and Belarus and their well-being.
