Alexander Lukashenko: 2003 to be year of establishing order in Belarus

Echo Moskvy radio informs, the Kremlin has no reason to worry about the sharp polemics concerning future of the Russian-Belarussian union. Deputy chief of the Kremlin administration Sergey Prikhodko says, the Russian leadership is ready to continue the dialogue with Belarus. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko got very much insulted when Moscow suggested that Belarus should be merged with Russia. The offer caused really sharp polemics.

Sergey Prikhodko thinks that such debate is even useful, however, he doesn’t mention at that, for whom exactly.

Meanwhile, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko suggests to declare the year of establishing order in the country in 2003. Territories of the republic are to be made better to make Belarus look like a European country. The Belarussian capital, Minsk, “is to be turned into a European-model city where people feel comfortable,” the president says.

Alexander Lukashenko suggests that special plans should be designed for developing Minsk and other cities of Belarus, Interfax informs. “Living standards should be practically equal in all Belarussian cities.”
