A new, and perhaps the deadliest, confrontation between the War Allies United States, Britain and the World has emerged recently with the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court stating that the War Leaders, Bush and Blair, could face war crimes charges in the Hague.
The London Sunday Telegraph is reporting this news on March 18, and as we can read:
"Chief Prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo said in an interview with the Sunday Telegraph that it was frustrating that the court was viewed in the Arab world as biased in favor of the West.
Asked whether he could envision a situation in which Mr. Bush and Mr. Blair found themselves in the dock answering charges of war crimes in Iraq, he replied:
"Of course, that could be a possibility ... whatever country joins the court can know that whoever commits a crime in their country could be prosecuted by me."
As we had previously reported in our October 15, 2005 report titled 'War Crimes' Portfolio against United States President, Vice President and Defense Secretary Opened By International Committee of the Red Cross Charging 'Crimes Against Humanity', there does exist the legal mechanisms to try the Western War Leaders, but according to Russian Legal Experts the likelihood of this happening while the United States remains so powerful is 'remote'.
As thousands of war protestors continue to demonstrate in the United States, Europe and around the World, Russia's foreign minister Sergey Lavrov has begun to show the Kremlins extreme displeasure of the actions of the United States and stated that Russia intends to increase its Global role to counterbalance the Americans.
Though the United States under their Neocon Republican Regime has steadfastly refused to recognize the authority of the International Court, and has in fact denied foreign aid to any of their allies refusing to sign separate treaties absolving American Soldiers of war crimes, the UN has previously reported that the Americans have admitted to torture, and as we can read:
"Washington has, for the first time, acknowledged to the United Nations that prisoners have been tortured at US detention centres in Guantanamo Bay, as well as Afghanistan and Iraq, a UN source said.
The acknowledgement was made in a report submitted to the UN Committee against Torture, said a member of the ten-person panel, speaking on on condition of anonymity. 'They are no longer trying to duck this and have respected their obligation to inform the UN,' the Committee member said.
'They they will have to explain themselves (to the Committee). Nothing should be kept in the dark,' he said. UN sources said this is the first time the world body has received such a frank statement on torture from US authorities."
The United Nations has, also, previously declared that the American invasion of Iraq is an illegal war, and as we can read as reported by the BBC News Service: "The United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan has told the BBC the US-led invasion of Iraq was an illegal act that contravened the UN charter. He said the decision to take action in Iraq should have been made by the Security Council, not unilaterally."
Most interesting of these events, according to many International Legal Scholars, lies in the fact that the United States has a government system under their Constitution that puts the 'ultimate' power of the United States in their citizens, and not their War Leaders, and which under some of these opinions actually means that the American citizens themselves, who support their war efforts, can be tried as willing accomplices to the war crimes committed by those acting in their names.
Historians, likewise, point to the example of the German people under the Nazi Regime of Adolph Hitler, and who like the American War Leader also ruled in a democratic republic by decree, and who after their defeat suffered mass death at the hands of the invading armies of their country for their complicity in their War Leaders many atrocities against humanity.
To the eventual outcome of these events it is not in our knowing, other than it is now more obvious than ever that the United States now has no other choice but to continue their War for complete Global conquest, and to which the American Defense Secretary has warned US citizens that they are prepared to continue for 'decades'.
