George Person: Russia's biggest mistake

I'm not so sure it was so much as fear of the Russians as it was pure hatred towards them.....
 
And being of Russian decent I paid a price for it....  Basically, the Russians were trying to compete with Western Europe and the USA, and they got a lot of very bad press.....
 
Was it justified from a freedom and value point of view of the West?! Yes....freedom is freedom...it exists by itself...if you believe in it, then, you've got to put up with the prevailing ethnic culture dominating society, even if your cultural heritage is considered an enemy of the country you live in...and even more perversely you are expected as a son of freedom to defend the nation from its enemies...which may be the culture you descended from....and I will do it too...and hopefully you'll still love me, notwithstanding all the potential shooting.....
 
Russia made its biggest mistake when after WWII,  they didn't try to have better relations with the West and the USA.....
 
Stalin and Molotov were way too arrogant with President Truman...they should've tried to have better relations, but they thought Russia could outdo the USA. Well, at the current time, they still have a ways to go.....one day they will overcome, but their country may have to go through such a drastic alteration before it gets to that stage, and thus, making it impossible to satisfy the deep resentment the Russians have toward the West for their unrelenting attack on their lifestyle and political culture....by getting back at the USA and making them suffer for the damage they caused the Russian identity on the world stage....
 
Perhaps at this point philosophy can enter the picture...the philosophy of admitting defeat....of an old and inferior way of living..that freedom is truly the best way of living....that the USA wasn't trying to destroy Communism, so much as trying to introduce a more dynamic way of existence..the right to enjoy the fruits of your genius as you try to capitalize upon them in a free market economy....and building your kingdom on earth...thus, being a force of containment until that view came true.....
 
In the global economy, the USA is ready to allow the country which can produce the best product or service at the lowest price to rule the marketplace....it's about time Russia to show the world that business is business, and they are ready to chase the almighty buck...and try to introduce the the freedom of American society into the Russian heart....
 
Helping put down terrorists who unravel the peaceful fabric of life...and showing the world they are a proud and honorable culture which produces only the very finest people, as the freedom bells ring across the land, that a new era is coming to put prosperity into Russia's hands...
