The U.S. military reported four more soldiers died the day before- three in fighting and one due to a non-combat cause.
One Multinational Division - Baghdad soldier was killed Saturday when his patrol was attacked with small-arms fire in southern Baghdad, while another was killed and one wounded during combat operations northwest of the capital, the military said in separate statements.
The U.S. military also said a Multi-National Division - Baghdad soldier died of wounds sustained from a roadside bomb and small arms fire attack in eastern Baghdad on Saturday.
A similar attack killed two U.S. soldiers and wounded three on Saturday, but the military could not immediately specify if it was the same incident.
North of Baghdad, a Task Force Lightning soldier died Saturday in a non-combat-related incident, the command said. It provided no further details and said the death was under investigation.
Those deaths added to eight previously reported to raise Saturday's death toll of U.S. troops in Iraq to 12.
The deceased soldiers' names were being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
