North Korea slammed rival South Korea on Tuesday for blocking access to North Korean Web sites.
South Korea's anti-communist National Security Law prohibits the country's citizens from unauthorized contact with North Koreans or materials from the country, and some North Korean Web sites are blocked in the South by the government.
"It is as foolish an act as trying to get the sun eclipsed by palms to seek to distract the mind-set of South Koreans desiring the new and aspiring after justice and truth," the North's Central Committee of the Korean Union of Educationists and Men of Culture said in a statement, reports AP.
The North claimed blocking the Internet dampened the spirit of reconciliation on the peninsula since a 2000 summit between leaders of the divided Koreas, according to the statement, carried by the North's official Korean Central News Agency.
South Korea is one of the world's most-wired countries with widespread high-speed Internet access. North Korea remains one of the most isolated countries, where the Internet is restricted to a privileged few.
