Iraq: Shiite cleric urges the world to rescue Lebanon

The statement was issued on the sixth day of Israel's assault against Hezbollah in Lebanon, targeting the movement's strongholds in south Beirut and attacking Lebanese infrastructure nationwide, according to the AP.

Hezbollah also fired hundreds of rockets into northern Israel killing at least eight Israelis on Sunday.

The assault began after Hezbollah abducted two Israeli soldiers.
