Beijing is making "unremitting efforts to get the six-party talks to resume as soon as possible," said Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu.
Vice Foreign Minister Wu Dawei will visit the North as part of a delegation headed by Vice Premier Hui Liangyu, Jiang said at a regular news briefing. She didn't say with whom Wu was expected to meet or give other details.
The Foreign Ministry announced this week that Hui would visit Pyongyang on July 10-15 for celebrations of the 45th anniversary of a Chinese-North Korean friendship treaty.
When asked whether Pyongyang notified China in advance about its missile launches this week, Jiang said, "the North Korean missile test has nothing to do with China."
Jiang appealed for restraint by all sides.
