Tajikistan: Bus overturns, 6 people killed

The accident occurred Monday in the Shakhristan mountain pass about 500 kilometers (310 miles) northeast of the capital, Dushanbe, police said.

Five of the injured were in serious condition, police said. The crash was under investigation.

Road accidents are common in the impoverished ex-Soviet republic, where roads are poorly maintained and many vehicles are obsolete, according to the AP.
