Col. Erkin Musayev, the former chief of the Defense Ministry's foreign economic affairs department, "passed secret materials to the intelligence services of a foreign state," the court said on its Web site. The court said Musayev had been convicted Tuesday of treason, disclosure of state secrets and neglect of duties.
While the court did not specify the country for which Musayev allegedly spied, the independent online publication Uzmetronom has claimed that Musayev supplied the Pentagon with Uzbek and Russian military secrets, the AP reports.
