Kim dismissed the idea of the capitalist South absorbing the impoverished communist country, and said unification should be made gradually after periods of a peaceful coexistence and cooperation, the Associated Press reports.
The Nobel Peace Prize laureate is set to reprise his landmark June 2000 trip later this month and return to Pyongyang. He plans to hold heart-to-heart talks with the North's Kim on how to achieve unification and how to realize his dream of linking the peninsula to Europe via a railway.
