A bus plunged off a bridge into a dry river bed on Wednesday, killing at least 18 people in western India, police said.
The bus was carrying more than 50 passengers and traveling to Bombay when it went off the bridge in the district of Thane, said a police officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media.
He said 18 people had been killed, but the NDTV news channel reported that 24 were dead.
As many as 10 people were critically injured and rushed to a nearby hospital, the officer said, reports the AP.
