A hut caught fire in a northern Indian village and seven children playing inside were killed in the blaze, a news agency reported. The bodies of the children, three boys and four girls between the ages of 2 and 6, were found when the villagers searched the charred remains of the hut after extinguishing the fire, the Press Trust of India news agency reported.
Police were at the scene in the village of Bohar near the northern city of Chandigarh and were investigating the cause of the fire, PTI quoted police as saying. The children's parents were away working in nearby fields when the fire started, the report said. Police could not immediately be reached for comment, reports the AP.
