US President proposes $10b for bird flu defence
George W Bush has asked for US$7.1 billion ($A9.5 billion) in emergency funding to combat any global outbreak of the deadly bird flu virus.
"There is no pandemic flu in our country, or in the world, at this time," Mr Bush said in a speech at the US government-funded National Institutes of Health, informs Ninemsn.
