Britain protests Iranian President's unacceptable comments about Israel

Britain's Foreign Office said Thursday it intended to summon an Iranian diplomat to protest the president of Iran's call for Israel to be "wiped off the map."

The Foreign Office said Iran's charge d'affaires would be summoned later Thursday.

In a speech Wednesday, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad denounced Israel.

"There is no doubt that the new wave (of attacks) in Palestine will wipe off this stigma (Israel) from the face of the Islamic world," Ahmadinejad told students during a Tehran conference called "The World without Zionism."

The Foreign Office said "Ahmadinejad's comments are deeply disturbing and sickening," reports the AP.
