As the number of deaths due to heavy rains and subsequent floods in India's Andhra Pradesh rose to 63 Thursday, water level in the two rivers of the state rise again.
According to PTI, even before the people in 10 districts of the state could get some respite from the rains and floods of the last four days, water levels began to rise in the two rivers threatening to submerge several towns and villages.
The government estimates have put the death count to 63. The rains have also caused the state treasury losses to the tune of about $4 bln.
Though reports Wednesday said the Godavari and Krishna rivers had begun to recede, the situation turned worse as heavy rains lashed neighboring Maharashtra state.
According to the reports, state government officials are finding it difficult to reach dozens of inundated villages in Godavari and Krishna delta areas. Where nearly 150,000 people have been evacuated but 50,000 more are still marooned.
Copious rains in the state were bringing huge inflows into Krishna, causing problems to Nizamabad and Karimnagar districts of Telangana.
The weather department had predicted heavy rains in the telanga region of the state in the next 24 hours.
However, work is on in full swing to restore road, rail and air traffic, disrupted due to the incessant rains, from coastal areas, Xinhua reports.
