Foreign military will have to leave Indonesia

&to=http:// english.pravda.ru/main/2002/10/16/38235.html ' target=_blank>Indonesia has welcomed calls by separatist rebels in the Indonesian province of Aceh to join a ceasefire.

Vice-President Yusuf Kalla said Jakarta would make an effort to get a truce.

Rebels say a temporary ceasefire is needed to allow an effective relief operation in Aceh, worst hit by the earthquake and &to=http:// english.pravda.ru/accidents/21/97/385/14779_ADRA.html ' target=_blank>tsunami. On Thursday, Indonesia said its death toll from the earthquake and tsunami which struck on December 26 had risen to 110,229, reports BBC News.

According to the Channel News Asia, the &to=http:// english.pravda.ru/society/2002/07/07/31948.html ' target=_blank>United Nations appealed to Indonesia Thursday not to impose a deadline on foreign troops providing relief assistance in strife-torn Aceh province after the tsunami disaster.

Jan Egeland, a top UN relief official, also expressed concerns over possible restrictions on movements of relief workers by the Indonesian authorities.
