5 Russians in WTA'S top 10

The Women's Tennis Association (WTA) published a new version of its rankings on Monday, and for the first time ever, five Russian women are ranked in the top ten.

Anastasia Myskina (4141 points) is the best Russian tennis player. She is ranked third. Elena Dementyeva (3177 points), Maria Sharapova (2462 points), Vera Zvonareva (2082 points) and Svetlana Kuznetsova (2003 points) are ranked sixth, eighth, ninth and tenth respectively.

Justine Henin-Hardenne (Belgium, 4916 points, 1st), Amelie Mauresmo (France, 4431 points, 2nd), Lindsay Davenport (U.S., 4044 points, 4th), Kim Clijsters (Belgium, 3622 points, 5), and Jennifer Capriati (U.S., 2689, 7th) are ranked in the top ten as well.

Moreover, nine Russian women are ranked in the top 100: 15. Nadezhda Petrova (1769 points), 19. Yelena Bovina (1275 points), 27. Yelena Likhovtseva (1163 points), 42. Dinara Safina (785.75 points), 50. Lina Krasnorutskaya (704.50 points), 77. Alina Zhidkova (482.75 points), 89. Maria Kirilenko (407.75 points), 91. Tatiana Panova (403 points), and 97. Vera Dushevina (392 points).
