The military exercise of the Collective Rapid Deployment Forces of the CSTO member-states, codenamed Rubezh-2004, has been successfully completed.
"The priority of this exercise is the organization of the political and military cooperation of the CSTO member-states in the Central-Asian direction of collective security. The plan of the joint exercise was based on the variant of a potential aggravation of the military-political situation in Central Asia, brought about by coordinated actions by illegal armed formations in the territory of the CSTO member-states with an active support of international terrorist organizations ", said a spokesman for the Kyrgyz defense ministry.
In his words, the main task of the final stage of the exercise - the organization of operational teamwork in eliminating bandit formations - was successfully fulfilled.
"Troops demonstrated a high degree of combat training and coordination. The Collective Rapid Deployment Forces have shown that they are capable of accomplishing missions on the stabilization of the situation in the region, and if necessary, on the elimination of illegal armed formations ," he stressed.
What was special about this exercise was the use of the aviation component - modern combat aircraft Su-25, Su-27, MiG-29 and helicopters Mi-8, Mi-24 and Ka-50 Black Shark.
