Teheran says U.S. lost first round of "anti-Iranian battle"

Secretary of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council Hassan Rowhani said on Monday that at the session of the IAEA Board of Governors, the United States found itself isolated when a resolution on the Iranian nuclear program was being adopted.

"Washington failed to put through its draft resolution to the agency's Board of Governors. Practically all of the countries stated their position, which was approval of Iran's aspiration for cooperation and the creation of an atmosphere of confidence in resolving the problem of nuclear programs," Mr. Rowhani told reporters.

Mr. Rowhani noted that he had no apprehensions regarding the solution of the problem of the country's nuclear programs.

"We have signed the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons Treaty and an additional protocol to it; we are presently fulfilling the provisions of the additional protocol and for this reason there should not be any apprehensions about this," said Mr. Rowhani.

The United States, just as New Zealand and Canada, demanded that a tough resolution be adopted. The resolution would condemn Iran for concealing the fact that in the past it worked on enriching uranium and it would hand over the Iranian nuclear dossier to the UN Security Council so that sanctions against the Islamic republic could be adopted.
