Early voting in the Russian presidential elections will be held in Boston on Saturday. A polling station will be open at Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 10.00 a.m. till 4.00 p.m. local time.
According to Artem Barkov, the executive secretary of election commission No. 5232, the decision to hold early voting in Boston was taken with account for the past experience of the State Duma elections last December.
"It would be difficult to deliver ballot papers to New York on March 14 in time because of Boston's remoteness. So the Central Election Commission allowed holding early voting in Boston," Mr. Barkov said. Ballot papers will be brought to New York on Saturday night. Votes will be counted on Sunday.
Voting in New York will take place on Sunday at Russia's Consulate General in Manhattan, at the Millennium Concert Hall in Brighton Beach (Brooklyn) and at the Russian mission in the UN (Bronx).
In addition, voting take place at Sholom Aleikhem cultural center in Philadelphia.
