Russian Father Frost and Snowmaiden go to Hungary

Russian Father Frost and Snowmaiden from Veliky Ustyug (an assumed birthplace of Father Frost in the Vologda region in Russia's north) headed for Borsod-Alauj Zemplen province /Hungary/ at an invitation from Ildiko Gyarfas, the President of the province, said the press service of the Vologda regional government.

Thousands of children write about their cherished dreams to Father Frost but not all of them have a chance to meet with him, reads the message. Therefore the Government of Borsod-Alauj Zemplen having friendly relations with the Vologda region invited Russian Father Frost and his granddaughter Snowmaiden to Northern Hungary to let children meet with the fairy-tale, said the press service.

During the three-day visit Father Frost and Snowmaiden will visit the Hungarian national parliament, meet with the speaker and MPs, and representatives of public and state organisations. In addition, they are scheduled to visit the Russian Embassy in Hungary and meet with Russian and Hungarian schoolchildren.

Russian Father Frost and Snowmaiden will also participate in the Holiday of Mikulasz /the Hungarian counterpart of Father Frost and Santa Claus/ in the central square of Miskolez. Father Frost and Mikulasz are expected to address Hungarian and Russian children.

The current Father Frost's visit to Hungary will be an original international presentation of the project "Veliky Ustyug, the Birthplace of Father Frost".
