Moscow does not want barriers to arise between Poland and Russia after Poland's entry into the EU, said Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov just before his visit to Warsaw, according to PAP information agency.
Ivanov arrives in Warsaw for a short working visit later today. He is expected to meet with Polish President Alexander Kwasniewski and Polish Prime Minister Leszek Miller. The main theme of talks will be an analysis of bilateral economic and political cooperation between the two countries after Poland joins the EU.
In addition, the cancellation of the visa regime between the EU and Russia will also be a major theme of discussion. Ivanov is hopeful that Poland will lobby for the cancellation of the EU visa regime for Russian citizens after it joins the EU. 'We are hopeful that, as a member of the EU, Poland will actively work toward the complete cancellation of the visa regime,' said Ivanov.
