The 5th annual international meeting of states parties to the Chemical Convention is being held in the HQ of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPСW) in The Hague. The Russian party is represented by officials from the Russian Munitions Agency.
Participants will consider prospects for work to implement the provisions of the Convention by the OPCW's member states. Representatives of a number of countries will discuss issues of their concern with the Secretariat of the OPCW and exchange information and share their experience of implementing the Convention.
Another goal of the meeting is to promote cooperation among the states, parties to the Convention.
This year's meeting will accent on national legislations, concerning the implementation of the Convention, first of all, the necessity of adopting relevant laws in the countries, which have not done it yet, and there are many of them. Secondly, improving legislation scarce in this regard, where needed.
The Hague meeting will be over on October 19th.
