Vladimir Putin on role of Russia-OIC combined resources in world politics

The combination of financial, technological and personnel resources of Russia and the OIC member states may become a real factor of the world politics and launch a breakthrough in many directions of the world economy," Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the opening of the summit of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference.

"Our cooperation within this organisation (OIC) may even today become a most important element of a fair and secure world," Putin maintained. Russia, as a unique Eurasian state, has always played a special role in building relations between the East and the West, he recalled.

This interaction "may provide a ground for a conflict-free solution to many international and regional problems," the Russian leader believes.

"I am sure that this fully meets the interests of our peoples and the humanitarian values advocated by all religions in the world, including Islam," Putin said.
