Iran has opted for a way of cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and peaceful resolution of nuclear problems, a statement by permanent representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Agency Ali Akbar Salehi says.
At the same time, according to him, in taking decisions on the problem of nuclear programs, the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran and different government commissions proceed from the necessity to preserve national sovereignty and to resolve the crisis created, as Salehi noted, in an artificial way.
In his opinion, the non-signing by Iran of the additional protocol to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) will lead to broader international pressure on Iran.
"At the same time it would be wrong to believe that after Iran joins the additional protocol and starts all-round cooperation with the Agency resolution of the country's international problems will be guaranteed," the Iranian permanent representative in the IAEA noted.
